PHONE.COM AND GETTHERE.COM BRING THE NEXT PHASE OF WEB-BASED TRAVEL SERVICES TO WIRELESS PHONES

MyPhone Service Introduces Travel Notification Feature and Remote Itinerary Viewing for Business Travelers

REDWOOD CITY and MENLO PARK, Calif. (January 5, 2000) ¾ Phone.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:PHCM), a leading developer of software and services that enable the delivery of Internet-based information services to mass-market wireless telephones, and GetThere.com (Nasdaq:GTHR), a pioneer of Internet-based business-to-business travel reservation technology, today announced an agreement to bring the next level of Web-based travel services through Internet-ready mobile phones. Wireless network operators offering MyPhone™, the first mobile portal service from Phone.com™, are now able to offer subscribers ready access to their travel itineraries. In addition, business travelers are now able to receive travel alerts and soon, GetThere expects to offer the ability to book flights and make changes to travel itineraries while on the go. GetThere.com is providing its Mobile Manager technology to Phone.com to enable the MyPhone service with travel information.

Mobile Manager works with MyPhone to link wireless phone users to the comprehensive Web-based travel information and booking system available from GetThere.com. The collaboration with MyPhone extends GetThere.com's reach to travelers, providing access to travel records to check status and receive automatic itinerary alerts, anywhere, anytime. For wireless carriers, content from GetThere.com enhances the robust set of Internet-based offerings already available through MyPhone, which include news updates, stock quotes, weather reports, email, address book, and calendar applications — all which can be accessed by customers with Web-enabled phones.

"Despite modern technologies such as e-ticketing and automated flight information, business travelers still face issues such as last minute schedule changes, and flight delays due to weather or mechanical malfunctions," said Ben Linder, vice president of marketing for Phone.com. "Our relationship with GetThere.com allows travelers to address these issues by receiving notification of changes in their travel arrangements directly from their mobile phone."

GetThere.com is a leading resource for business travel procurement needs, processing business-to-business travel transactions for many of the country's largest and most successful corporations, airlines, and Internet sites. Corporate Intranets or Web sites are linked to GetThere.com's online booking and travel management data centers where GetThere.com manages all of the hardware, software, system upgrades, security, reliability, availability and system growth required.

"Phone.com has helped wireless carriers take advantage of the Internet by offering innovative services to their customers, and GetThere.com has given business travelers the convenience of real-time booking," said Dan Whaley, co-founder and CTO of GetThere.com. "This agreement combines the power of the wireless Internet and on-line travel booking to show the new category of services the Internet can offer to the traveler."
