Market leaders to address security requirements for smartphones

In conjunction with next week's RSA Conference 2000, RSA Security Inc., the most trusted name in e-security, today announced it is working with Ericsson Mobile Communications to broaden the existing relationship between the companies to include the development of innovative security solutions for Ericsson smartphones. RSA Security and Ericsson share a common vision for the use of mobile phones in e-business whereby they will enable a host of services beyond communications. In business, the companies expect mobile phones to be used broadly to access the Internet, to function as a trusted form of authentication and provide a secure platform for digitally signing e- commerce transactions. Through their collaboration, RSA Security and Ericsson are working toward integrating their respective technologies. The first delivery of this collaboration will be the Ericsson smartphone R380 which will feature authentication for secure corporate access. "Secure solutions for e-commerce and information access are vital in bringing out the full potential of smartphones", said Jan Ahrenbring, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Ericsson Mobile Communications. "We're pleased to broaden our relationship with RSA Security and to work together in developing and delivering integrated e- security services", said Ahrenbring. "Experts predict the smart phone market is poised for explosive growth and we're excited to be helping Ericsson pave the way," said Scott Schnell, senior vice president of marketing for RSA Security. "Together, we intend to provide smartphone users with a new generation of convenient and secure solutions for wireless communications and commerce."
