Solect Demonstrates WAP Enabled Subscriber Self-Registration and Self-Care at Mobile Billing 2000

Solect Technology Group, the world leader in IP billing and customer care software, announced today they will demonstrate WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) enabled subscriber self-registration and self-care using Solect's carrier grade billing and customer care solution, IAF Horizon.

This demonstration will show how voice mobile subscribers can register for new Mobile IP services and manage their account information from their mobile device, over GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) networks.

The demonstration will allow Mobile Service Providers (MSPs) to view IAF Horizon's total solution for customer care and billing, allowing service provisioning, collection and mediation of event usage and rating in a GPRS environment.

The WAP self-registration and self-care will be an integral part of this demonstration, which will show how subscribers can automatically register with a service provider using their mobile phone and self manage their account information. The self-care application allows activities such as changing passwords and viewing usage.

Using the WAP self-registration and self-care MSPs will allow their subscribers access to IP services and account information quickly and easily, increasing customer satisfaction, while reducing acquisition and support costs.

"Solect has worked closely with leading mobile equipment vendors to evaluate Customer Care and Billing (CCB) functionality and has refined the IAF Horizon architecture to ensure it meets the complex business requirements to support mobile IP services over a GPRS network," said Kevin Kimsa, vice chairman and chief strategy officer at Solect. "The Solect solution allows MSPs to take advantage of new revenue streams with mobile IP services while leveraging their legacy CCB infrastructure."

Solect's IAF Horizon for Mobile IP provides a CCB infrastructure that allows MSPs to set up different business models such as:

The IAF Horizon service management features enable management of bundled mobile IP offerings, such as GPRS access, e-mail, Internet/Intranet access and WAP-based content and value-added services. The rule-based rating engine supports sophisticated billing plans and its inherent flexibility accommodates rating on any service attribute in a carrier grade environment.
