Arabian Modern Equipment Joins Phone.com Alliance Program

AME offers wireless access to contact and activity details of more than 200,000 companies from 14 Middle East Countries

Arabian Modern Equipment (AME), the Middle East’s leading on-line business directory, today announced that it has joined the Phone.com™ Alliance Program as a content provider. The mission of AME is to provide the most accurate and comprehensive database on Middle East-based companies and to become the preferred Web-based business directory reference through its product, AME Info. The database includes company name, address, fax, phone, e-mail, web-site address and business activities. Contacts can be searched geographically, by company name and by industry field.

This alliance, representing the integration of the Internet and wireless technology, is designed to empower mobile phone subscribers to directly and instantly access contact and activity details of more than 200,000 companies from 14 Middle East countries using their mobile phone's built-in UP.Browser™ microbrowser from Phone.com. By utilizing Phone.com's Alliance Program, AME Info will provide subscribers the opportunity to search by company name, product, services and reverse lookup by telephone number from their mobile phone. AME Info is now available through network operators in countries with Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) gateways.

AME Info is a directory service covering companies from Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
"We look forward to working closely with Phone.com to introduce a new application that will allow easy access to information in the Middle East " said Klaus Lovgreen, managing director of AME. "AME has the fastest growing and most comprehensive database in the region and Phone.com has a unique microbrowser interface for linking mobile phone users to the Internet or corporate intranets. The Phone.com product offering together with our AME Info directory allow carriers to provide instant access to updated contact details."

"We are very excited that a company in the Middle East is on the forefront of this new technology,” said Kathy Simpson, director of developer marketing for Phone.com. "AME’s expertise in the online business directory category will, for the first time, enable carriers utilizing the UP.Link™ Platform to provide subscribers with access to the Middle East business community."
