CitiKey Demonstrates Pioneering Mobile City Guide at GSM World Congress

WAP-enabled Mobile City Guide Available for Use for Residents and Visitors to Cannes

    CitiKey, the world's first mobile city guide, today introduced its service for Cannes, France, at the GSM World Congress, held in Cannes from February 2-5.

    The service can be accessed at wap.citikey.com/ca and can be seen at Ericsson's booth, F12, and Phone.com's booth, C36. The CitiKey service provides an intuitive, easy-to-use interface tailored for any mobile device, providing a one-stop solution for all city information and services to people on the move.

    "We are excited to be able to provide this `live` mobile city guide for visitors to the GSM World Congress, as well as for the people of Cannes," said Ziad Ismail, CEO of CitiKey. "This will be followed by several other launches in major cities across Europe."

    A New Lifestyle Tool for the Future

    Personalized Service Using Positioning Technology

    The CitiKey service is personalized for the user. Each user's customer profile is built up dynamically based on their usage pattern

• for example, if a user frequently requests information on comedy plays, they will appear at the top of a entertainment search list. Additionally, using Ericsson's positioning technology, a phone with CitiKey's service can identify a user's location and provide information for that area. For example, a user walking down the street in Stockholm could use CitiKey to locate an Italian restaurant of his liking within walking distance. "Our Mobile Positioning System designed to be accurate within 10 meters and offering 100% subcriber coverage, combines well with ingenious solutions like CitiKey to ensure that the end user is given full possible value today and in the future," said Goran Swedberg, Senior Market Manager MPS, Ericsson Radio Systems.

    Compatible with All Major Platforms

    CitiKey is available for both Phone.com and Nokia, and runs on the 1.1 version of the Wireless Application Protocol. "The CitiKey application is an excellent example of the value WAP brings to highly mobile users who need information about local services while traveling," said Malcolm Bird, managing director of Phone.com, (Europe), Ltd.

    Additionally, the service is available for users of Palm Pilot and Windows CE devices.

    Availability

    Currently, the CitiKey city guide service is available in Stockholm and Cannes. In addition, services for many of Europe's major cities are currently under development for launch in 2000.
