E-Business Intelligence on the Run: New Release of SAP Business Information Warehouse Supports Wireless Access to Business Intelligence, Adds Personalized User Roles

    In the rapid pace of technology change, the next trend is shaping up to be e-commerce using mobile devices.

    With the new Release 2.0 of SAP(TM) Business Information Warehouse(TM) (SAP BW(TM)), demonstrated here at the SAP Business Information Warehouse conference, SAP AG (NYSE:SAP) takes a major step in elevating e-commerce solutions. The delivery of SAP BW for mobile Internet devices provides busy executives and managers with remote access to Business Intelligence with mySAP.com(TM) via the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) while at the same time adding new user roles that make it easier than ever for all employees in a company to access strategic information.

    With SAP BW accessible from the palm of the hand, information can be made available in a matter of moments from anywhere, with the assurance it is consistent, up-to-the-minute and presented in a user-friendly manner that will inform and impress customers.

    "Through mySAP.com, SAP BW allows companies to achieve e-business intelligence," said Klaus Kreplin, vice president of SAP Business Information Warehouse at SAP AG. "SAP BW plays a central role in helping companies implement e-business strategies through easy access to better information."

    Business Intelligence with mySAP.com is enabled by the SAP BW component and provides companies with an integrated view of their business through a common Business Intelligence infrastructure. SAP BW comes with more than 75 user roles integrated within the mySAP.com Workplace and approximately 500 predefined queries to enable users to perform tasks quickly and effectively. In addition, Web-based portals tie together market intelligence, sales execution, product information, customer history and buying patterns -- regardless of whether the systems are from SAP. Included key performance indicators enable sophisticated performance measurement tailored to specific industries.

    SAP also announced that SAP customer Varta AG, a world-leading producer of batteries, represents the 1,000th installation of SAP BW. Using SAP BW, Varta is building a reporting tool that will be used throughout the company by management, sales and logistics. SAP BW will enable Varta to consolidate numerous report structures and give users access to fast, flexible reporting functionality via its easy-to-use and customizable interface.
