FlashPoint Demonstrates Wireless Internet Imaging at CeBIT

Intelligent Digita-enabled Cameras Connect Directly to GSM Phones for Instant Image Delivery via E-Mail and the Web

FlashPoint Technology Inc., a leader in the standardization of digital appliances, is demonstrating a new platform for sending and receiving digital photographs over the Internet using Digita(TM)-enabled cameras and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) cellular phones at CeBIT 2000 in Hanover, Germany. This demonstration showcases a powerful wireless imaging infrastructure that provides mobile professionals with the ability to instantly communicate using mission-critical digital photographs globally without the need for a PC. FlashPoint will be in the Motorola booth number E40, Hall 26 at CeBIT from February 25 - March 1, 2000.

"We see wireless imaging as an exciting opportunity to drive photography into new and compelling venues," said Stephen D. Saylor, executive vice president and general manager of FlashPoint Technology. "Digita is an open software platform that will allow software developers, wireless companies and imaging manufacturers to provide groundbreaking solutions for any business application."

The Digita standard drives an award-winning platform of enabled intelligent imaging products, including the HP PhotoSmart C500, C912 and C618; Kodak DC220, DC260, DC265, DC290; Minolta's Dimage EX1500; and Epson's PrintOn photo printer.

Digita is a software operating environment that drives the next-generation of intelligent imaging appliances. It extends cameras, printers and other products beyond traditional photography and printing applications. Digita features provide manufacturers with the ability to constantly add new imaging applications that run directly inside their products. Digita is an open system, which allows software developers and systems integrators to develop customized software packages for specific industries.
Real-World Solutions

Users in a variety of markets can benefit from wireless imaging applications. The Digita operating environment enables cameras to be customized for a variety of vertical markets, special interests and tasks. Using the Digita Script(TM) programming language or the Digita Software Developers Kit, developers and enthusiasts can create customized applets or complete applications to meet their evolving digital imaging needs and address diverse market requirements.

For example, an automobile insurance company can dramatically reduce claim turnaround times by going directly to an accident site to take a photograph with a Digita-enabled camera. Using a wireless handset to e-mail the image directly to the office, customer claims can be processed more quickly. At a construction site, a supervisor can photograph various stages of the project's development and e-mail images immediately to the developer and architects without the need for a PC. As a result, project status can be quickly determined and corrections can be made instantly.
