Largest Scandinavian Banking ASP Selects TANTAU's Wireless Platform

Wireless Internet Platform Enables Mobile E-Commerce for EDB Novit's 30 Customers

TANTAU Software, Inc., a leading developer of software and services that enable enterprises to conduct mobile e-commerce (m-commerce), today announced their Wireless Internet Platform was selected by EDB Novit AS, a Norwegian banking application service provider (ASP), to build and deploy wireless banking applications for more than 30 Norway banks. With TANTAU's Wireless Internet Platform, customers of these banks can conduct m-commerce transactions, such as account transfers, balance inquiries and bill payments, using cellular telephones, hand-held computers and other mobile devices. Norwegian Postbank is the first EDB Novit customer to use the wireless banking application.

EDB Novit is one of the first customers to benefit from a strategic relationship between TANTAU and Hewlett-Packard to provide industry leading m-commerce solutions. EDB Novit will demonstrate its banking application using TANTAU's Wireless Internet Platform and HP's mobile e-services commerce platform built on HP 9000 servers and HP Praesidium Virtual Vault at CeBit 2000, February 24 - March 1 in Hannover, Germany, at the HP booth A-24, hall 18.

"We offer premium banking applications that enable financial institutions to establish a direct relationship with their customers, " said Hand Ildstad, director of business development for EDB Novit. "TANTAU's Wireless Internet Platform allows our clients to maintain that direct customer relationship as they integrate their wireless and wired e-commerce strategies, and it addresses the critical enterprise requirements of security, scalability and high availability."

Within three years, nearly 10 percent of the world's sales are expected to be Internet e-commerce transactions. Further, experts predict that over half of the one billion mobile phones in use by 2002 will be Web-enabled making these devices by far the most common way to access the Internet. To meet the growth of m-commerce, EDB Novit chose TANTAU and HP solutions for its wireless e-commerce strategy. Providing customers the ability to offer banking functions anywhere at anytime, EDB Novit gives banks a competitive edge by building customer loyalty and increasing customer retention.

"HP is pleased to demonstrate that with TANTAU's Wireless Internet Platform, we can deliver leading technology to EDB Novit that ensures secure mobile customer banking," said Harry Stehrenberger, director of financial services industry for Hewlett Packard's European division. "Together, TANTAU and HP solutions offer end-to-end security that enable financial services institutions to provide wireless e-commerce for their customers."

"For ASPs focused on servicing banking and financial-businesses, like EDB Novit, providing secure wireless e-commerce applications gives a huge advantage in this growing market," said John Sims, president and CEO of TANTAU. "TANTAU is the only company to offer a proven technology foundation that comprehensively addresses the security, scalability, availability and direct access requirements for m-commerce."

    Availability

TANTAU's Wireless Internet Platform is generally available now and is currently in trial stage at EDB Novit with full public implementation slated for the beginning of March.
