MOBILE INFORMATION DYNAMICS (MID) LICENSES PHONE.COM'S UP.LINK SERVER
MID Brings WAP-based Horseracing Information to Mobile Phones

Inc. (NASDAQ:PHCM), a leading provider of software that enables the delivery of
Internet-based services to mass-market wireless telephones, today announced that
Mobile Information Dynamics (MID) will offer a WAP-(Wireless Application
Protocol) based service provided through the Japanese nationwide PDC and PHS
network using the Phone.com™ UP.Link™ WAP Gateway. This service allows
subscribers of horse racing information to browse through related information at
their convenience using WAP-compatible mobile phones equipped with Phone.com's
UP.Browser™.
MID, the mobile information service provider financed by ITOCHU Corporation,
Matsushita Communication Industrial Co., Ltd., NTT DoCoMo Inc. and others will
install and operate the Phone.com UP.Link WAP Gateway and manage the WML content
services associated with this service. MID will aggregate a wealth of content
relevant to horse racing fans and has set up a variety of online databases
related to horse racing in order to provide a full range of services to
subscribers. The service is expected to start in April 2000.

useful information via their mobile phones."

The UP.Link Server Suite™ provides for the delivery of WML content to any
WAP handset, as well as backward compatibility, with existing HDML content for
these handsets, giving network operators the ability to support the broadest
selection of wireless Internet applications available. The UP.Link Server Suite
also enables interactive information services and applications, including Email,
Visual Voicemail™, Personal Organizer and Electronic Customer Care. Since
1997, Phone.com's solutions have been licensed to over 50 of the network
operators worldwide.
