Nokia introduces a WAP phone for mobile professionals
Nokia has today introduced a
new mobile phone that combines the balanced Nokia 6100 series evolution with
state-of-the-art technology in GSM. The Nokia 6210 is a GSM 900/1800 dual-band
mobile phone primarily targeted for mobile professionals. The phone supports
both High Speed Circuit Switched Data (HSCSD) with data speed of up to 43.2 kbps
and Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). The Nokia 6210 was launched today at
CeBIT 2000 in Hanover, Germany, and at the Nokia - Designed for Life event in
Hong Kong. The product will be available during the third quarter of 2000.
"The Nokia 6210 sets a new reference in the category of
business phones, complete with advanced features and a design that enables
efficient and reliable operation. It is the result of a balanced and elegant
evolution of the Nokia 6100 series, enabling an easy migration path for our
customers to the latest technology in mobile telephony. The unique benefits of
the Nokia 6210 ensure that it will be highly appealing to today's mobile
professionals who have a constant need to access time-critical information,"
said Søren Jenry Petersen, Vice President, Cellular Mobile Telephones, Nokia
Mobile Phones.
The Nokia 6210 is perfect for users who use the mobile phone
as their most vital business tool. The size of the phone and the big display
enable easy operation, yet the product is only 18 mm thick with the standard
slim battery, and it weighs only 114 grams. The length and the width of the
Nokia 6210 are the same as in the other Nokia 6100 series phones, which many
users have considered to be the optimum size ratio for a mobile phone. This also
enables the use of most of the Nokia 6100 series accessories, including the
hands-free car kit, batteries, chargers and desktop stands with the Nokia 6210.
The Nokia 6210 has an internal antenna, allowing for a smoother design of the
phone without compromising performance.
