Novatel Wireless Unveils Minstrel IIIc Wireless Palmtop Modem for Palm IIIC Color Organizers

Minstrel IIIc Provides Portable Email and Internet Access

Novatel Wireless Inc., a leading provider of wireless Internet solutions, announced today the new Minstrel IIIc(TM) Wireless Palmtop Modem.

Building on the success and market acceptance of Novatel Wireless' line of Minstrel(R) CDPD modem cradles for the Palm Computing(R) platform, the Minstrel IIIc provides two-way, wireless data communications to users of the newly-announced Palm IIIC color organizer.

"The growing community of palmtop users have come to equate the Minstrel brand with portable, wireless Internet access," said Bruce Gray, vice president of Novatel Wireless Inc. "As the use of palmtop and mobile devices becomes the preferred mode of communications, Novatel Wireless will continue its mission of enabling high-speed, mobile access to personal, corporate and public information."

The Minstrel IIIc is a wireless modem, which clips to the back of the Palm IIIC organizer -- forming a tightly integrated mobile Internet device. Like its predecessors, the Minstrel IIIc will be bundled with Web browsing and email software, and will be compatible with third-party enterprise applications, utilities and games written for the Palm operating system. The company will demo the Minstrel IIIc modem for the first time at next week's CTIA Wireless 2000 show in New Orleans in booth No. 3933.

Novatel Wireless expects to begin commercial shipment of the Minstrel IIIc through their distribution partners by the second quarter of 2000. The new product will have an anticipated MSRP of $369.

At the end of last year, Novatel Wireless introduced the OmniSky(TM) Minstrel V(TM) wireless modem for Palm V organizers, a co-branded product collaboration with OmniSky Corp. OmniSky is currently conducting a public beta program of their wireless email and Internet service using the OmniSky Minstrel V modem. Beta customers will receive an OmniSky Minstrel V wireless modem and unlimited CDPD service by AT&T Wireless for $299 through March 31, 2000.
