Aether Software Powers Innovative Mobile Business Solutions

EverythingOffice, Papel Giftware and TOMRA Implement ScoutWare for Mobile and Wireless Applications

Demonstrating the real-world business benefit of handheld computing in enterprise environments, Aether Software, a division of Aether Systems (Nasdaq:AETH), and formerly Riverbed Technologies, today announced that EverythingOffice, Papel Giftware and TOMRA have successfully deployed its ScoutWare products, a suite of end-to-end data management and synchronization tools that enable the creation of the "ever-available enterprise." The three organizations join a growing roster of organizations, including the United States Postal Service, that are increasingly turning to wireless and mobile computing solutions as a new way of doing business, and choosing the trusted ScoutWare family to drive that process.

"With the ScoutWare product suite these organizations are improving sales and inventory tracking, cutting down on the amount of time workers spend recording and accessing critical data, and streamlining customer service and deployment systems," said Wayne Jackson, President of Aether Software. "ScoutWare represents more than just a new product family, it is in fact a new, better way of doing business with immediate benefits and tangible results."

EverythingOffice

As an Internet-based office product supply company, EverythingOffice chose ScoutWare to ensure that sales and repair personnel were equipped with the communications tools they needed to better serve and attract customers. The company's sales personnel use hand held PalmOS based devices to record business contacts and potential leads which are then remotely synched back to the corporate server, allowing for immediate follow up action. In addition, service technicians are now able to track and respond more quickly to repair calls, including those made on the Web.

"By implementing a ScoutWare solution, EverythingOffice can easily stay on top of sales operations, freeing our sales executives to refocus valuable time on attracting new customers and providing current customers with the highest quality service," said Brian MacDonell, President of EverythingOffice. "The result has been tremendous - the new field system is easy to use and cost effective, and we have enjoyed exceptional business growth, partly due to our new, highly effective mobile computing solution."

ScoutWare provides a comprehensive and simple solution for EverythingOffice IT managers as well. All devices can be updated remotely and programming changes can be made quickly and easily. The new system cuts down on support costs by replacing costly laptops with affordable Palm devices. "The system practically maintains itself," added MacDonell.

Papel Giftware

"With a mobile sales force that works beyond the corporate walls of our headquarters, we needed a solution that would enable our sales personnel to deliver customer orders within 24 hours," said J.D. Smith, vice president of Information Technology at Papel Giftware. "The successful combination of Windows CE handheld devices and the ScoutWare software provides our sales force with a solution that has eliminated the need to manually process 2,000 customer orders per day."

Papel Giftware sells moderately priced gifts to independent retail stores across the country. With the new ScoutWare product, the company's 140 sales executives are able to enter customer orders and arrange for shipments in record turnaround time, and access an instant status check on customer orders. The use of the new mobile computing technology has also resulted in a decreased average data reporting time for sales personnel from 40 minutes to ten, and a subsequent one third reduction in communication charges.
