Aether Systems, Inc., a leader in wireless data service and systems, and Videre, LLC, a provider of wireless data applications, have formed a strategic partnership to offer a new, Internet based solution for the transportation and field service markets.
The solution provides real-time wireless data communications and mobile commerce applications over a variety of mobile devices including pagers and phones, for companies with field service employees. Pop-A-Lock(TM), a national company that provides lockout services, will pilot the system beginning in April.
To create this new solution, Aether provides services including mobile appliance provisioning and expertise in wireless data services and support. Videre, located in Portland, Oregon, provides its MobileSet(TM) mobile data application system. Together, this complete solution enables companies with field service workers to gain access to real-time data on information such as service and inventory status, performance measures and pricing.
Ideally, companies such as Pop-A-Lock will be able to improve efficiencies by shortening service and billing cycles. This partnership and service is part of Aether's strategy to expand as a leading wireless applications services provider and furthers the company's move into the transportation/field service market.

The Videre MobileSet(TM) application is a complete service solution. Using state-of-the art Web development, the system is configurable and flexible to support a broad range of customers and implementations. Its key functions include call taking and spotting, dispatching, work order and work force tracking and management, inventory management, order completion including credit verification and management reporting. Mapping and text messaging are integrated. Office based personnel access these capabilities through standard browsers and field personnel through a variety of mobile appliances.

Under the terms of this agreement, Aether will host and operate the Web-based system and provide wireless service and customer support. Videre provides its MobileSet(TM) software, application support and enhancement.
