Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERICY), the leading global provider of mobile Internet, and StarMedia Network, the leading Internet media company for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking audiences worldwide, announced an agreement today combining StarMedia's Mobile Division products with Ericsson's wireless infrastructure and advanced messaging solutions in Latin America. The partnership leverages Ericsson's leadership in mobile Internet solutions, applications and devices with StarMedia Mobile Wireless Internet products and specialized content.
The agreement includes joint marketing efforts by Ericsson and StarMedia Networks to offer wireless network operators in Latin America Ericsson's messaging solutions bundled with StarMedia Mobile Media Products.
Ericsson is integrating StarMedia's Mobile Media products into its product portfolio of Messaging-over-IP solutions. The combined solution will enable mobile operators to provide mobile Internet services like e-mail and personalized information services in Spanish and Portuguese delivered to end user's mobile devices.

Strong growth is predicted for wireless services in Latin America. According to Ericsson, there will be over 75 million mobile subscribers in Latin America by the end of this year. This number is expected to grow to approximately 120 million in 2003.
