Inso announces partner program for the Symbian platform

File and document access to next generation wireless devices

Information Exchange ("IED"), a division of Inso Corporation (Nasdaq: INSO), announced the launch of its Symbian Platform Partners Program to introduce file and document access to next generation wireless information devices. Mobile phones soon will be able to display the same range of office documents as a desktop computer with Information Exchange's viewing and conversion technologies. Inso plans to release a product later this year which will allow manufacturers of Symbian-based Smartphones and Communicators to display the contents of a range of standard office documents directly on the mobile device, making it easy for users to get access to email attachments and corporate network information from anywhere with Information Exchange's mobile and wireless technologies.

Inso previously announced that it has an agreement with a leading manufacturer to include its file viewer technology on one of the first fully functional Symbian-based wireless information devices when it reaches the market. Through the Symbian Platform Partners Program, wireless device manufacturers will be able to collaborate with Inso to adapt the technology to the unique requirements of their products. The partners will benefit from early access to the technology and the ability to influence product design and development to optimize Inso's file viewing features for their devices.

"We are rapidly approaching the true mobile office, where obtaining critical information will be as simple as dialing in from your phone," said Michael Neiswender, vice president for Mobile and Wireless Solutions at Information Exchange. "Advances in display size, processing power, memory and network speed will make full document access a reality and Inso will provide the view window to the wireless document."

"The Symbian Platform Partners Program initiative is another demonstration of how software application companies, content providers, and other actors in the wireless value chain are active in creating content on the Symbian platform," said Juha Christensen, executive vice president for Symbian. "Mobile users will gain real, significant value from devices equipped with Inso's file and document viewing technology, combined with the full wireless integration from Symbian."

Symbian aims to promote standards for the interoperability of wireless information devices with wireless networks, content services and messaging and enterprise wide solutions. The Symbian platform has been licensed for use by the world's leading wireless device manufacturers including Ericsson, Matsushita (Panasonic), Motorola, Nokia, and Psion.

When available, the new products from Information Exchange designed to run on the Symbian platform will join a growing set of technologies offering seamless access to corporate data from wireless information devices.
