Yahoo! Deploys Second-Generation Services to Wireless Yahoo! Users

Yahoo! Auctions, Yahoo! Movies, Yahoo! Directory Services and User Registration Options Now Available on Mobile Phones

Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO), a leading global Internet communications, commerce and media company, today announced its launch of second-generation services for wireless Yahoo! users.

Consumers with Wireless Application Protocol (WAP)-enabled mobile phones and devices can now access Yahoo! Auctions, Yahoo! Movies, the Yahoo! directory and user registration options on the go, from anywhere at anytime.

Further expanding the company's Yahoo! Everywhere strategy, Yahoo!'s second-generation services now join other popular features such as My Yahoo!, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Sports, Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Weather, Yahoo! Calendar, Yahoo! Address Book and horoscopes that consumers can access from a wide variety of wireless devices.

"We are pleased to extend Yahoo! Everywhere by deploying our second-generation services to wireless Yahoo! users," said Mohan Vishwanath, vice president of Yahoo! Everywhere, Yahoo! Inc.

"Yahoo! now provides mobile e-commerce opportunities through Yahoo! Auctions; allows consumers to read movie reviews and find theaters via Yahoo! Movies; extends our popular directory services beyond the desktop; and, enables wireless users to register for customized Yahoo! content from anywhere. Yahoo!'s global Web network of 22 World properties, combined with the functionality of our familiar interface and popular services, is a cornerstone of the Yahoo! Everywhere strategy -- to bring Yahoo! services to users anytime, anyplace from any access point worldwide."

Yahoo! Auctions To Go

Auction enthusiasts can now participate in and monitor Yahoo! Auctions from wireless devices. The wireless Yahoo! Auctions allow users to bid on items anywhere at anytime and watch auctions in progress. Coupled with the popular alert functionality of Yahoo! Auctions, users can set alerts to be notified on their wireless device when they are at risk of being out-bid.

Yahoo! Movies On The Move

Moviegoers now have the ability to quickly locate a movie theater, read a movie synopsis, find show times, and contact a theater all from their WAP-enabled mobile phone. This new functionality frees users from having to dial up movie information services. Yahoo! Everywhere brings consumers movie information, when and where they need it most.

Wireless Yahoo! Directory Services

Yahoo! has applied the network's site-indexing capabilities to HDML/WML mobile Web services. Utilizing a dedicated staff of editors, Yahoo! has indexed hundreds of sites that are optimized for display on mobile devices. Yahoo! users now have the breadth and depth of the World Wide Web on the go.

User Registration Beyond the PC

Yahoo! users can now find and register for popular personalized Yahoo! content and services, such as Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Calendar and My Yahoo! from their wireless device. This new device-side registration offers users increased flexibility to use a full complement of Yahoo! content and services without being tied to a desktop PC.

Yahoo! launched the Yahoo! Everywhere initiative in June 1999 to enable consumers around the globe to access their My Yahoo! on pagers, data phones, personal digital assistants, and an array of other wireless devices. To date, Yahoo! has entered wireless agreements with a number of service providers and manufactures of Web-connected devices as part of its Yahoo! Everywhere strategy.

Palm Computing, Motorola and Sprint PCS have teamed with Yahoo! to offer Yahoo! Web content and services to their consumers inside the U.S. Internationally, Bell Mobility in Canada; D2 Mannesman Mobilfunk in Germany; Siemens in Asia and Europe; SmarTone and New World in Hong Kong; Radiolinja in Finland; and SK Telecom and Hansol PCS in Korea have also joined with Yahoo! to distribute Yahoo!'s Web content and services to wireless phone users.
