Accesspoint Issues Update About Wireless Internet -WAP- Capabilities

Beta-testing of Web Site Content Generation Modules Completed Ahead of Schedule

Accesspoint Corporation (OTC BB:ASAP), a leading developer and manufacturer of e-commerce transaction solutions, today issued an update on the progress of its project to incorporate Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and Wireless Markup Language (WML) technologies across its entire award winning product line. When incorporated, these technologies will enable business customers and consumers to access Accesspoint developed and supported Web sites through wireless devices such as mobile phones, pagers and Palm Pilots(TM) (Nasdaq:PALM).

Last month Accesspoint committed its support for these new technologies and today announced that the beta-testing of its new WAP-enabled Content Creation and transaction processing modules is proceeding more quickly than originally anticipated. Accesspoint will now move forward with the next phase of the project, the upgrading of its merchant account management and processing modules. Although the project is currently running ahead of schedule, the company has not changed its original goal and still anticipates the release of these products to market by the end of the June quarter.

"The rapid progress of this testing phase, ahead of schedule, is a reflection of our support for these new standards and technologies," says Tom Djokovich, CEO of Accesspoint Corporation. "The demand for WAP-enabled products continues to grow and we have begun talks with several major wireless companies that want to develop WAP applications using our transaction processing and content generation modules. Given this interest we are dedicating additional programming resources to this project. We are committed to staying ahead of our competition by providing a complete suite of WAP-enabling solutions, which will also be incorporated into all current client Web sites."

Wireless industry analysts at Herschel Shosteck Associates predict that there will be 126 million handheld computers and personal digital assistants by 2003, in the US alone. And, according to Gartner Group's (NYSE:IT) February study, worldwide sales of mobile handsets are booming, having grown by 65 percent in 1999 alone.

The beta test was executed by incorporating the modules within the company's demonstration site with their new WAP-enabled equivalents. As each visitor built a demonstration Web site, the new modules simultaneously constructed the WAP accessible interfaces. Accesspoint's engineers are then able to monitor the effectiveness of the content creation modules, under real-world conditions, by accessing them with a variety of wireless devices, including handheld PCs and WAP-enabled Cell Phones. This approach was a major factor behind the early completion of the test.
