Air2Web and OpenSite Partner to Develop Wireless Auction Services

Air2Web, a cutting-edge wireless application service provider, and OpenSite Technologies Inc., a leader in online auction and dynamic pricing technology, Monday announced a strategic partnership to develop wireless auction services for OpenSite customers.

Through these value-added services, OpenSite customers and their end users will be able to access auction services easily and conveniently through the Air2Web application, using their wireless mobile devices.

"The ability to participate in an auction from any place on any wireless device enhances the potential of OpenSite powered commerce," stated Sanjoy Malik, Air2Web chief executive officer and president. "Through the Air2Web solution consumers will be able to make real-time bidding and selling decisions without being tied down to a physical location."

"OpenSite's goal with this -- and all of our business development partnerships -- is to offer our customers innovative services and products that complement OpenSite's dynamic pricing technology," said Kip Frey, OpenSite chief executive officer and president. "This partnership and the pervasiveness of digital wireless devices have the potential to dramatically increase access to our customer sites."

Potential benefits of this application include:

For Bidders:

-- Winner notification -- bidders are notified when they have won an auction.

-- AutoBid increment notification -- bidders are notified that their bid has been increased via AutoBid.

-- Outbid notification -- bidders are notified that they are no longer winning and they are able to reply from their cell phone with a new bid.

For Sellers (including OpenSite customers and/or third-party sellers)

-- Auction notification -- for auctions with a delayed start time, sellers will be notified that their auction is now begun.

-- Successful auction close notification -- sellers are notified of winning bid information once auction closes.

Primary targets for this application include all digital cellular telephones and WAP cellular phones along with other wireless devices such as Palm VII and two-way pagers.
