MobileStar Network to Deliver Wireless Internet Connectivity to IBM ThinkPad Users

MobileStar Network Corporation, a provider of high-speed, wireless Internet access for business travelers, today announced the company has become an IBM ThinkPad Proven(TM) partner.

Proven(1) is an IBM marketing program designed to highlight the complementary nature of products offered by IBM and industry-leading vendors. IBM ThinkPad Proven products are tested, warranted and supported by the manufacturer to ThinkPad Compatibility Standards.

IBM ThinkPad users will be able to take advantage of MobileStar Network's wireless Internet connectivity service, which will be compatible with the high-rate 802.11b wireless LAN standard for wireless Internet or corporate network access. Using an 802.11b wireless LAN PC Card (purchased separately) and the software provided by MobileStar Network, ThinkPad users will be able to connect to the Internet at speeds estimated up to 50 times faster than using a traditional modem.

"We know how difficult it can be for business travelers to get the speed and reliability they need to access their company LANs and the Internet while on the road," said Adalio Sanchez, general manager, IBM Mobile Computing. "This agreement with MobileStar Network uniquely positions IBM in delivering to its customers wireless, e-business solutions that enhance convenience and productivity."

MobileStar Network President and CEO Mark Goode said, "We are excited about teaming up with IBM to bring the MobileStar network to ThinkPad buyers. IBM's market leadership in providing a great mobile computing product ties in well with our goal of enhancing the mobile computing experience through fast and easy-to-use wireless Internet connectivity."
