NightFunk Inc., one of the fastest growing Internet sites for the college-aged demographic, announced today a partnership with wireless startup Anywhere Solutions, LLC to provide students with local event listings and online shopping via mobile phones and other wireless devices utilizing WAP technology. Scheduled to debut no later than August, 2000, NightFunk To Go will deliver local concerts, movie showtimes, parties, bar specials, guest lectures, sports scores and other local campus-specific news and information to students on over 250 campuses.
NightFunk will also offer wireless, online shopping in local college towns. Students will be able to order food from their favorite take-out establishments as well as reserve videos, buy concert tickets, schedule haircut appointments, and buy other local goods directly from their portable devices.
"We have always believed that NightFunk is the perfect application for handheld devices. We envision that six months from now students will leave their classes, break out their Palm Pilots and check NightFunk To Go to see what local bands are playing in their area or what the drink specials are for the evening. Our alliance with Anywhere Solutions provides us with the backbone necessary to deliver this information on a national scale," said Michael Zivin, President & CEO of NightFunk.
