WAPobjects Framework now available for WebObjects 4.5

Following the successful release of its new WAPobjects framework DV-ORG Team GmbH today announces the availability of WAPobjects for the recent release of Apple's award winning development and application server software, WebObjects 4.5.

WAPobjects is an extension for WebObjects and is being presented by the development team this week at the Spring Internet World 2000 Conference occurring in Los Angeles, April 5-7.

"With our extension to Apple's WebObjects, the ObjectTeam delivers the world's first combined Web/WAP application server with visual integrated development environment. With our tools and con-sulting expertise, we are excited to be at the front of the wireless internet revolution," says Uwe Tile-mann, manager of the ObjectTeam division of DV-ORG Team GmbH. "Newly developed applications profit from the excellent, WAP-enabled WebObjects development tools and from its object-oriented in-terface to relational databases and ERP systems."

"WebObjects is the industry's most mature and comprehensive application server on the market," said Ken Bereskin, Apple's director of Mac OS Technology. "WAPobjects coupled with WebObjects 4.5 pro-vide an innovative solution for developers driving the wireless Internet revolution."

The WAPobjects framework by DV-ORG Team GmbH links application logic and WAP devices. WAPobjects integrates into the WebObjects development environment and allows the rapid development of complex database driven applications with its ready-to-use components. Performance, scalability and availability are guaranteed by the WebObjects Application Server, which has been awarded "Software Product of The Year 1999" by Network Computing.

The Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is the industry standard for applications on mobile devices such as mobile phones, organizers, Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), car radios, navigation systems and many more yet to be developed. The Wireless Application Protocol adds mobility to the Internet. With your mobile phone for example, you can retrieve information such as: weather forecasts, traffic in-formation, stock quotes and many more. WAP also offers a new platform for E-commerce, online bank-ing and brokerage.

To many Internet content providers this means, that they must add WAP functionality to their existing and future applications. As a WAP device is not like a small web browser, these new devices, due to their compact size, require applications with optimized user interfaces. Future internet services will need to communicate with web browsers as well as WAP devices. The amount of work needed for this added functionality must not be underestimated.
