OpenGrid, Inc. and Cendant Internet Group, a unit of Cendant Corporation (NYSE:CD) announced today that Cendant's subsidiary WizCom International, Ltd. (WizCom) has reached an agreement with OpenGrid, Inc., an emerging leader in wireless Internet solutions, to deploy the OpenGrid wireless and wireline Internet e-commerce solution that provides the convenience of hotel bookings from any Internet-enabled device. Hotel guests can set personal preferences, check room availability and instantly book or update room reservations anytime, anywhere. WizCom is targeting offering the benefits of OpenGrid's solution to its more than 90 hotel customers in Q3 2000.
The OpenGrid travel e-commerce solution allows WizCom's customers to create customized storefronts that make real-time inventory available to target markets. WizCom has integrated the OpenGrid solution into the company's Internet Distribution System to enable its customers to sell their hotel rooms over the Internet at whatever sites they may choose. With OpenGrid's solution, hotels can extend their reach to capture a larger and more focused audience while maintaining brand identity. The OpenGrid solution paired with WizCom's proven Internet and GDS connectivity and leading reservations processing capabilities allows customers to stay focused on their core business while increasing distribution.
