AirFlash Joins Phone.com Alliance Program

Application Service Provider Supplies Infrastructure for Location-Based Mobile Content and m-Commerce

AirFlash, Inc., the premier ASP of wireless location and m-Commerce infrastructure, today announced that it has joined the Phone.com(TM) Alliance Program as an application development partner. AirFlash(TM) plans to integrate SmartZone(TM), the Company's location-based content and m-Commerce infrastructure, with Phone.com's products for wireless Internet, including UP.Link Server Suite(TM) and UP.Browser(TM) microbrowser. Mobile carriers and mobile portals will now have a `plug compatible' infrastructure to deliver accurate mobile-relevant user experiences by tying together location and time-relevant content with a continuous mobile interface and a one-click shopping experience.

"We believe that the mobile medium is a new medium because the Internet user experience on the mobile phone is a fundamentally different experience than surfing on the web," said Rama Aysola, founder and CEO of AirFlash. "Mobile operators and mobile portals need a solid foundation to deliver mobile-relevant services, and our alliance with Phone.com provides a significant step forward in offering carriers and portals best-of-breed, location-based mobile infrastructure."

SmartZone's patent-pending technologies place locations in a two-mile radius of the mobile user's location. Unlike current Internet search algorithms, SmartZone takes all topographical obstacles into account; the SmartZone radius is defined by driving or walking times and not by aerial distance. For example, if an ATM cash machine is only one-quarter mile away from the user but across a river with the nearest bridge two miles away, SmartZone will recognize that the cash machine is, in reality, a much further distance away.

"We are delighted that AirFlash is joining the Phone.com community of alliances," said Kathy Simpson, director of Developer Marketing for Phone.com. "We believe that location services are key to the success of the wireless Internet."

The Phone.com Alliance Program has two aims: to promote the concept of wireless information access, and to coordinate the exchange of ideas and information among Alliances Program members, other companies developing wireless Internet products and services, and Phone.com's network operators. AirFlash joins a growing list of alliances that includes content providers, application developers, tools providers and systems integrators using the Phone.com Product Family.
