Altro Solutions Delivers Wireless Internet Access to NetSanity Preferences Management Platform

Joint NetSanity-Nokia Trial Features Wireless Access Protocol (WAP) and Wireless Markup Language (WML) Technologies

Altro Solutions, Inc. today announced the integration and delivery of mobile wireless Internet access and notification capabilities to NetSanity for its joint wireless Internet access trials with Nokia Corporation. Altro integrated NetSanity's Preferences Management Platform with wireless carrier gateways to deliver Internet content to mobile devices.

"Wireless access represents the next big wave of Internet usage and many clients are asking us to enhance their on-line presence with this capability," said Joseph Garappolo, Altro President and CEO. "This particular implementation is especially compelling because of the incredible level of personalization NetSanity brings to its users."

Redwood City, Calif.-based NetSanity aims to enhance the web experience by delivering a user's favorite web-based information onto any device, in any location. The company has agreements with over 75 of the web's most popular content providers, including RedHerring.com and internet.com. Altro's wireless implementation for NetSanity features several technologies, including Wireless Access Protocol (WAP), Wireless Markup Language (WML), and Nokia 7110R WAP phones. Other technologies include the Nokia WAP Gateway, Netscape Enterprise Server, and JRun.

"NetSanity is about eliminating clutter and information overload, and making Internet content relevant to individual needs," stated Fred Clarke, CEO of NetSanity. "Wireless services are a key part of our value proposition and Altro has made a terrific contribution to our business in this regard. We consider them a partner as well as a top-quality supplier," added Rob Blechman, NetSanity's president.

NetSanity uses open-standard XML publishing to 'pull' select pieces of internet information, or Digital Pebbles(TM), from the web. This "write-once, read anywhere" XML not only avoids the bandwidth requirements necessary in 'push' technology, it allows for content delivery across multiple platforms. NetSanity will add capabilities for pre-WAP Handheld Device Markup Language (HDML) devices and Short Message Service (SMS) for non-WAP text messaging. This implementation will feature PCS phones and the Phone.com Gateway.
