Palm Launches Palm HotSync Server Powered by Aether's Synchronization and Device Management Software

Aether's Trusted Software ScoutWare Builds Momentum

Further solidifying its place as a preferred choice for industry leaders, Aether Software, the products division of Aether Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: AETH), a leading provider of wireless data systems and services, today announced that its ScoutWare(TM) data synchronization and device management technology has been integrated into the Palm HotSync(R) Server, a new enterprise product, which Palm started shipping today. With the ScoutWare technology, Palm HotSync Server customers will enjoy flexible handheld and application management along with broad synchronization capabilities - critical elements for mobile computing success in the enterprise.

"The integration of ScoutWare into the Palm HotSync Server offering significantly furthers our market penetration, generates key up-sell opportunities for Aether Systems, and reinforces our vision of the `ever available enterprise'. We are pleased that Palm selected our technology as the foundation for this significant new product."

Today's announcement is one of many recent implementations of the ScoutWare solution into a major enterprise or online initiative. Symbol Technologies has deployed Aether Software as part of a new class of mobile solutions in key vertical markets such as education, retail, government, transportation, health care and manufacturing. Earlier this month, OmniSky launched its wireless web service powered by ScoutWeb(TM), the ScoutWare component that dynamically transforms and transmits Web information to a range of mobile devices. OmniSky also utilizes Aether Software ScoutSync(TM) and ScoutIT(TM) to provide synchronization and device management functionality.

In addition, Aether Software has major business alliances with Sybase, Computer Associates, and TIBCO. ScoutWare solutions today are assisting U.S. organizations in the healthcare, retail, financial, government, and other industry sectors, creating real solutions that embrace the future of enterprise computing.
