Nokia has signed an agreement with StarHub to supply a Third Generation (3G) network solution, including Nokia's advanced WCDMA 3G core and radio access network equipment. This marks the first deal in Asia for the delivery of a complete 3G System. The value of this contract is about US$ 300 million. With this agreement Nokia strengthens it's leadership in 3G by now having 3G partners in 4 countries globally, more than any other supplier.
For 3G core networks, Nokia is developing an All IP solution that enables all voice, data and multimedia services to be supported over an end to end IP transport network. An All IP core network solution brings differentiation and cost efficiency that will be critical to operators in the 3G environment.
In support of StarHub's aim to position itself at the forefront of future Mobile Internet services, Nokia will deliver its triple-mode Nokia UltraSite base stations and GPRS solution. In addition, Nokia will provide extensive 3G System Integration expertise to integrate and develop end-user applications for StarHub's operations in Singapore.
The Nokia supplied GSM 1800 network, including switching and base stations, will also be expanded to support StarHub's fast growing customer base. The agreement means that Nokia remains the sole-supplier for StarHub's mobile network technologies.

StarHub is Singapore's new operator for both fixed and mobile telecommunications services. StarHub offers customers in Singapore a comprehensive info-communications solutions package for their communications requirements including fixed and mobile phone to Internet services.

While all services developed by Nokia and StarHub are subject to government approval, licensing and spectrum allocations, the companies intend to accelerate the implementation of Asia's first complete 3G network platform.
