Synchrologic's iMobile Data Synchronization Adds Firepower to Palm HotSync Server

Synchronization software manages advanced enterprise data sync needs

Synchrologic, Inc. (www.synchrologic.com), the leader in mobile computing management for the enterprise, today announces that its handheld synchronization product has been enhanced to integrate with the Palm HotSync(R) Server, providing robust add-on capabilities to help manage advanced data synchronization challenges. Enterprises deploying Palm HotSync Server can now take advantage of iMobile Data Synchronization's add-on functionality and administrative tools to reduce the time spent writing and maintaining custom conduit code..

"Synchrologic adds valuable mission-critical enterprise data synchronization capability to the Palm HotSync Server product," said Chuck Yort, vice president of business and government for Palm. "Based on Synchrologic's success integrating handheld computers to the most complex enterprise data sources, we believe corporations will find significant value in the iMobile Data Synchronization."

"We have long supported Palm's enterprise strategy by extending our enterprise software suite to support Palm OS(R) devices with data synchronization, file and software distribution, and asset management capabilities," comments Bill Jones, vice president of product management and marketing at Synchrologic. "On our new release, we worked closely with Palm to make iMobile Data Synchronization seamlessly connect with the Palm HotSync Server. This will give Palm's enterprise users an unbeatable one-two punch for meeting their toughest synchronization challenges."

iMobile Data Synchronization is now available with a conduit component that links directly to Palm HotSync Server via the published API. iMobile Data Synchronization complements Palm HotSync Server to provide exceptional value for more complex situations where one or more of the following is true:

-- data is shared and flows between mobile users

-- the central database is directly modified by connected users or processes

-- the data model is complex (deep hierarchy/many dependencies/many tables)

-- data is also synchronized between the server and PCs or laptops

-- business processes evolve rapidly requiring frequent conduit recoding

-- mission-critical transactions require fault tolerance and rollback

Each of these conditions introduces additional levels of complexity to the custom conduit code that would have to be written and maintained without iMobile Data Synchronization.

iMobile Data Synchronization is part of Synchrologic's iMobile Suite, a comprehensive enterprise mobile computing infrastructure solution with data synchronization, file distribution and backup, asset management with hardware and software inventory, and software distribution capabilities for a broad range of mobile computing platforms. Industry analysts have noted the importance of such solutions for the success of products such as Palm handheld devices in the enterprise.

"As enterprises deploy more companion computing devices for complex applications (e.g., CRM, ERP, field force automation) over the next one to two years, robust and secure server-based synchronization will be a vital ingredient in managing those devices," said Jack Gold, vice president at META Group. "Organizations will require device management (asset management, software distribution, user set-up) to be included in synchronization "suites," thus superseding personal synchronization and control (e.g., local PC), and allowing organizations to gain control of the companion platform environment and offer standardization and end user support."

Pricing and Availability

iMobile Data Synchronization with integrated support for Palm HotSync Server is available immediately. The software is priced at $139 per user for a 100-user deployment.
