TELESTET FIRST TO MARKET WITH WAP SERVICES IN GREECE

TELESTET (Nasdaq: STHLY) today became the first Greek mobile operator to launch online services via WAP technology.  The company has invested more than 3 billion Drs. to deploy the new technology, and today launched a series of online WAP services to a group of 200 "friendly users".  Full commercial service will start at the beginning of June.

The launch of "TELESTET on line" WAP services marks the company's second step in providing customers with easy access to content and personalized services.  The first step was taken in December 1999, when the company launched "Telestet on line" services via SIM Toolkit technology.  Now, the customer is connected to the Internet through the "Telestet online" mobile portal.

TELESTET will keep enriching its portfolio of online WAP services through agreements with content providers.  The company is already cooperating with the electronic network Kapa-TEL of the Kalofolias Group on a series of new online WAP services.  A spokesperson from Kapa-TEL commented: "Kapa-TEL electronic network is cooperating with TELESTET to offer a wide range services to the mobile phone, thanks to WAP technology.  We will continue offering our partners up-to-date and credible information, literally in their hands".

TELESTET will also cooperate with the Lambrakis Press Group to develop mobile services using content from the Group's Internet portal, "in.gr".  "The 'mobile.in.gr' is part of the strategic plan of collaboration between Telestet and the Lambrakis Group for providing Internet services in all its forms and through all devices," stated a spokesperson from the publishing group.

According to TELESTET's Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Luciano Frascą: "The New Economy consumer demands personalized services.  TELESTET is positioning itself as a key player in the New Economy, providing these services via the mobile phone".  Mr. Frascą added, "Telestet is first to market with mobile Internet in Greece, and this is consistent with the strategy that we announced late last year.  TELESTET's mobile portal gives our customers access to the services they need on the move with a simple click, in an easy and simple way.  Now we are ready for the next thing.»
