Ansyr and Kingston Demonstrate First Electronic Reference Books

Mobile Professionals Will Soon Have a New Method to Access Mission-critical Data

One of the greatest frustrations mobile professionals face is the need to access large documents when working remotely.

Ansyr Technology and Kingston(R) Technology Company have created a solution: the first electronic reference book for mobile professionals. The companies will demonstrate the new technology at BookExpo America on June 1-3 in Chicago, Booth No. 3499.

Publishers seeking new outlets for distribution in the electronic age now have a solution for the growing handheld market. Suitable for large manuals, textbooks, or reference materials, the Ansyr-Kingston electronic reference book is the answer to easy storage and transport of content-heavy documents on handheld devices. The combination of Ansyr's Primer(TM) PDF viewer and Kingston's CompactFlash storage cards form a unique solution to allow the secure flow of mission-critical information to handheld devices, regardless of format. Using CompactFlash to store the material and Primer to view the content, reference books and documents can now be displayed on handheld PCs without reformatting, giving handheld users the opportunity to carry volumes of critical information in the palm of their hand. At BookExpo, Ansyr and Kingston will demonstrate the use of their solution in the industrial, government and medical industries.

Ansyr is making mobile access to information easy with Primer, the first handheld application that enables users to view and navigate PDF files. Primer relieves mobile workers of the cumbersome need to carry hardcopy documents or laptop computers to access necessary manuals, catalogs, books, literature, and reference materials. Ansyr enhances the usefulness of handheld devices by enabling users to work with documents formatted in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF), the de facto standard for electronic document distribution worldwide.

Kingston's CompactFlash cards expand handheld memory capacity up to 128MB as well as increase productivity and battery life. Flash memory is a reliable and easy way to store and transport vital information because it is more rugged and much faster than a hard drive, and, unlike RAM, can retain data even when the power is turned off. CompactFlash has quickly become one of today's hottest portable storage technologies. Kingston's new, high-capacity CompactFlash cards provide a low price per megabyte of reliable, high-speed media.

"With the emergence of electronic books, professionals are able to access large documents such as industry manuals and reference books through their handheld devices. Ansyr's PDF viewer for handheld devices combined with Kingston's high capacity CompactFlash cards enable users to easily transport and store their high content and high value documents," stated Shannon O'Bryan, strategic alliances project manager.

"There are so many uses for electronic books in the professional world from doctors needing to look up the name of the generic equivalent to a prescription medication to an industrial engineer needing to look up a part number on location," said Norman Levy, CEO and founder of Ansyr Technology. "Using Kingston's CompactFlash, Ansyr is able to show off its capability to deliver large amounts of mission-critical information in PDF format to mobile professionals in a number of industries."
