AvantGo Mobilizes Lotus Notes

Acquisition of Globalware Provides Mobile Device Access to Custom Applications and Corporate E-mail, Calendar, Address and Expense Functions

AvantGo, Inc., a mobile Internet company, today announced that it is now shipping software to synchronize Lotus Notes custom applications and personal information management (PIM) applications on mobile devices with the Palm OS(R) platform. By acquiring Globalware Computing, Inc., AvantGo has broadened its AvantGo Enterprise(tm) solutions to provide corporate customers with the ability to wirelessly extend web-based and Lotus Notes-based applications to their employees and customers using mobile devices and Internet-enabled phones.

"Lotus Notes is one of the predominant enterprise application platforms used by our Global 1000 customers," said Richard Owen, CEO of AvantGo. "We are delighted to be adding Globalware's talented team to ours as we expand the breadth of business applications that are available to individuals using mobile devices."

Globalware, based in Chicago, develops connectivity solutions between the enterprise and handheld devices, delivering its Pylon product line to customers in more than 50 countries. With Pylon Conduit, enterprise customers connect Lotus Notes with Palm OS platform devices and enable the synchronization of e-mail, address books, calendars, tasks and expenses.

Using the company's PylonPro software, organizations can automatically convert Lotus Notes database applications into fully functional handheld applications. The synchronization of Notes databases facilitates the rapid development and deployment of a wide variety of business applications such as customer relationship management (CRM), help desk, surveys, order entry and inventory management systems. Finally, with Pylon ServerSync, which integrates with Lotus Domino Server, organizations can allow wireless, wireline and network-connected handheld users to synchronize with a centrally configured and managed server.

"By combining AvantGo Enterprise solutions with our Pylon product family, enterprises can now synchronize both their daily tasks and schedules along with their mission-critical Web and WAP-based business applications," added Gilad Ben-Yoseph of Globalware Computing, Inc. "Becoming part of AvantGo is exciting for us and we look forward to working together to deliver comprehensive product offerings that meet our enterprise customers' mobile computing needs."
