ePhysician Announces Electronic Drug Reference Tool On Wireless, Handheld Device

New Feature Allows Physicians to Access Critical Drug Information Anytime, Anywhere

ePhysician(TM), the first e-health company to leverage wireless, secure, handheld technology and the Internet to improve the experience of practicing medicine, today announced the launch of eDR(TM) 150, the second in its suite of offerings. The electronic drug reference system allows physicians to access critical drug information via a secure, wireless Palm OS(R) handheld.

eDR 150 allows physicians to view critical drug information for the 150 most commonly prescribed drugs and requires less than 500KB of memory on the Palm handheld. With eDR 150, physicians will be able to view drug information such as dosing by indication, contraindications and warnings, drug/drug interactions and adverse reactions. eDR 150 enables physicians to quickly find a drug by generic, brand name or by therapeutic class. Physicians will be able to capture drug updates to eDR 150 for free from the Internet all via the Palm handheld device.

Soon, the eDR series of products will allow physicians to maintain a comprehensive specialty-specific drug database, search for drugs by indication, print information for patients about their prescriptions and set up a customized database by drug and information categories.

eDR 150 is the newest product that ePhysician offers in its suite of clinical tools. Using ePad(TM), the first ePhysician product offering, healthcare professionals can prescribe medications by sending prescriptions securely over the Internet to the patient's pharmacy, schedule patients and view allergy, formulary insurance and critical information anytime, anywhere. Soon, physicians will be able to order and receive lab results, capture patient billing information and dictate notes and reports all through the same ePhysician handheld device.

"The addition of eDR 150 to our suite of services shows that ePhysician offers physicians the most current information when and where they need it," said Stuart Weisman, M.D., founder, president and CEO of ePhysician. "eDR 150 complements our prescription writing product, ePad, by warning physicians about potential drug interactions and ensuring proper dosing before a prescription is written."

Physicians using eDR 150 will find it easy to use because of its menu-driven interface; complete, because the database allows physicians to view information for the most commonly prescribed drugs; and concise, because it allows physicians to keep their favorite applications on their handheld.

A team of physicians, pharmacists and other medical professionals compiled the drug data by reviewing and summarizing information from all available drug data sources. Information for each drug was thoroughly reviewed by a team of clinicians to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.

Physicians will be informed via email when the eDR 150 drug database is updated. The tool is fully compatible with ePad, ePhysician's prescription writing application, but physicians are not required to have ePad to use eDR 150. eDR 150 is compatible with handheld devices that run on Palm OS 3.0 or higher.
