Ericsson and InterWorld to Deliver Next Generation Wireless E-commerce Solutions for B2B and B2C Markets

Agreement to Enable InterWorld's E-commerce Platform for Wireless Devices

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERICY) and InterWorld(R) Corporation (NASDAQ: INTW), today announced plans to develop, market and sell secure WAP-enabled e-commerce applications and services for the enterprise and consumer markets. The agreement expands upon their existing strategic alliance formed in 1998.

Today, InterWorld provides mission ready(R) e-commerce software solutions to manufacturers, distributors and retailers. With Ericsson's guidance, InterWorld plans to seamlessly WAP-enable their solution to provide secure, wireless capability to its current and future customers. A demonstration system of the solution using multiple wireless environments has already been developed.

The ongoing relationship also provides a framework for co-marketing the new, WAP-enabled solution upon general availability. Furthermore, InterWorld and Ericsson plan to complete a strategic agreement regarding continued joint marketing and development activities.

"Ericsson provides the most advanced and reliable wireless technologies in the industry, including WAP application and secure mobile e-commerce solutions," said Brian Barry, president and CEO, Ericsson Canada. "This alliance builds on our mobile Internet strategy, and together with InterWorld we will enable enterprises to enhance their e-commerce offerings by extending secure access and functionality to wireless devices."

"Wireless is playing a greater role in our industry. We are extremely pleased to be continually enhancing our relationship with Ericsson, the market leader in Internet wireless solutions, to provide our customers with a reliable, mobile e-commerce platform," stated Jeremy Davis, president and CEO, InterWorld. "By jointly taking this exciting leap into truly integrated mobile e-commerce, today we are poised to rapidly increase our delivery of WAP-enabled, mission-ready e-commerce globally, through our Ericsson distribution channel."

Businesses and customers will benefit from the mobile e-commerce revolution in a number of ways, including the ability to:

- Browse, check stock quotes, receive sports' scores, make purchases and travel plans;

- Receive highly-personalized content that is immediately "actionable;"

- Retrieve, scan and act on relevant, timely information that impacts their business or personal lives;

- Target early-adopter business travelers and youth markets; and

- Enhance existing relationships

The WAP standard has been developed by the WAP Forum to offer a suite of protocols modeled on the Internet but suited for narrow wireless networks, hand held device screens, limited input methods and smaller processors typically found in mobile devices. Ericsson was one of the original founders of the WAP Forum. InterWorld intends to be the first, sell-side e-commerce firm to join the WAP Forum.
