Ericsson R320s Cell Phone Certified for Paperclick ToGo; Technology Makes WAP Phone Internet Use Easier in Austria

NeoMedia Technologies, Inc., (Nasdaq:NEOM), the international leader in print-to-Internet technology, today announced the certification of the Ericsson R320s WAP cellular telephone for PaperClick ToGo(TM).

Ericsson Austria submitted the R320s to NeoMedia Technologies for PaperClick ToGo certification to lessen the burden of users when typing in lengthy URL addresses on the phone keypad. For example, the URL for WML (wireless markup language) online banking at Bank Austria from most European gateways is:

https://online.bankaustria.com/servlet/WAP_Welcome The PaperClick code for the same address is: 3200-2521.

So, with PaperClick ToGo, a WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) Internet user types only nine characters rather than the fifty in the URL address. For this application, phones must be equipped with browsers that support WML.

"Ericsson Austria supplied us with the phone and the latest software to be assured it would be compatible with the PaperClick ToGo service. Ericsson recognizes the value of shortening Internet URL addresses for WAP phone users. We were pleased to work with them," said Charles W. Fritz, Chairman and CEO of NeoMedia Technologies, Inc.

"Today's WAP phone users do not accept complex navigation, or wasting time when entering a URL by pressing phone keys multiple times. Ericsson Austria identified PaperClick ToGo as a useful added-value service for mobile Internet users equipped with our-320s WAP phone," said Michael Sikora, Business Development Manager for Mobile Internet Solutions, Ericsson Austria AG.
