Fidelity Investments Expands Wireless Investing Tools and Information for Palm Handheld Computer Users

InstantBroker(SM) service to feature first wireless intra-day stock screener, and breaking news and charts from MarketWatch.com, Inc.

Fidelity Investments(R), Palm(TM), Inc.'s premier brokerage provider, today announced that it will expand its InstantBroker(SM)(1) wireless trading service to deliver an innovative intra-day stock screener, news headlines and charting, as well as employer-sponsored retirement account balances to its customers via certain wirelessly enabled Palm(TM) handheld computers.

Fidelity Brokerage(R) customers will be able to access real-time charting, ticker-specific news headlines and story abstracts as well as Fidelity-managed 401(k), 403(b) or 457 retirement account balances via future Palm handhelds. The enhanced InstantBroker service also features the first wireless intra-day stock screener, enabling customers to analyze stocks based on financial parameters, such as trading range, price-earnings ratio and market capitalization.

"Our technological capabilities coupled with our strategic alliances with such companies as Palm and MarketWatch.com, Inc. have made InstantBroker the industry leader," said Joseph G. Ferra, senior vice president, Fidelity Online Brokerage. "Fidelity will maintain its competitive edge and differentiate itself by continually refining and expanding its wireless offerings to provide mobile investors access to the tools and information they want to actively manage financial portfolios."

Fidelity is the first company to offer an integrated portfolio through its InstantBroker wireless investing technology. Wireless access is scheduled to be available this summer to nearly 1 million investors who are Fidelity brokerage customers, have Fidelity-managed 401(k), 403(b) or 457 retirement plans and can view their combined portfolios via fidelity.com and Fidelity NetBenefits(SM). The first phase of the wireless integrated portfolio project will enable investors with employer-sponsored retirement plans to view their account balances. Future planned enhancements include transactions, positions, holdings and company stock quotes.

InstantBroker, Fidelity's proprietary wireless technology and the industry's first wireless trading service, enables Fidelity Brokerage customers to access real-time watch lists, market indices, stock quotes and other financial information, as well as place eligible stock trades wirelessly for as little as $14.95(2). InstantBroker is currently available via handheld computers, such as Palm VII handhelds or modem-equipped Palm V handhelds, one- and two-way pagers, Web phones and e-mail(3).
