Informix(R) Corporation (NASDAQ: IFMX), the technology leader in the software infrastructure for the i.Economy, and Psion, the leader in mobile digital computing and communications, have collaborated to ensure that the Informix Cloudscape(TM) database runs on the all current Psion products running Java and the EPOC-32 operating system. This combination provides a platform to allow Psion developers to build advanced enterprise and consumer applications for Psion users, who connect to Internet and intranet servers using any of the popular protocols, such as HTTP or WAP (Wireless Application Protocol).
The Cloudscape technology not only gives mobile workers real-time access to Web and corporate data, it enables them to continue to work with this information from any location, even while off-line. Additionally, using the Informix Cloudscape synchronization technology, application developers can also build Java applications that can automatically synchronize over WAP or other networks. Highly sensitive data can be encrypted to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of any data transmitted via the hand-held device.
