MobileLogic Enables Wireless Facilities Management Through Partnership With ServiceChannel

Wireless Connectivity for Building Managers & Contractors Delivers Timely Service

MobileLogic(R), a provider of Web-focused mobile business solutions, today announced that ServiceChannel, Inc., an Internet-based services company for the facilities management industry, is utilizing its wireless business solutions to introduce new operating efficiencies into the management and service of a building or a portfolio of properties.

ServiceChannel is a web-based business application used by facility managers and service contractors to coordinate, collaborate and conduct their business. Facility managers place service requests, track work orders and view performance history in real time; contractors receive service requests, remotely enter work orders, issue material requests, log time usage and post invoices. Using MobileLogic's wireless business solutions, these tasks can be performed from the field using a variety of mobile devices, including WAP-enabled phones, Palm(TM) handheld computers and RIM Wireless Handhelds(TM).

"MobileLogic's mobile business solutions are helping ServiceChannel to revolutionize the $340 billion facilities management industry," said Ron Spears, president and CEO of MobileLogic. "By extending the power of the Internet to the individual field agent using mobile devices, MobileLogic and ServiceChannel are demonstrating how mobile data is a necessary tool to increase operating efficiencies and reduce costs."

For example, a building maintenance supervisor can enter a service order into the system through a wireless device, without having to return to their station. A work order notification is sent directly to the service contractor, who can then acknowledge that the work order has been received. Once on-site, the contractor can acknowledge that the task is underway and/or completed. This eliminates paperwork, reduces the waiting time for service and expedites the invoicing process.

"ServiceChannel's mission is to ensure that all parties, from the smallest sub-contractor and facility manager to the largest maintenance organization, share the opportunity to leverage the Internet to share resources, ensure compliance, reduce costs, and increase business efficiencies," said Steven Gottfried, president and founder of ServiceChannel. "By introducing wireless technology into our service offering, we continue to give our constituents, the facility managers and service contractors, the tools they need to perform their jobs better every day."

The ability to transmit service data in real time using wireless technology has significant benefits for businesses in every major industry where the management of facilities is critical, including hotel and retail chains, commercial real estate management companies, universities and colleges, municipalities, and hospitals.
