Paltalk Releases Instant Messaging Software For Palm III and V Handhelds: Smallest Footprint Available

Paltalk(TM) (www.paltalk.com), one of the fastest growing providers of Voice over Internet Protocol, video conferencing and instant messaging software, has released free software enabling Palm III and Palm V users to instantly message other Paltalk users (either Palm or PC based) anywhere around the world.

The free software is downloadable in 10 to 30 seconds from Paltalk's website at www.paltalk.com. The total program size is only 40 kb.

"The walls between once distinct technologies are coming down and blending together to provide users the convenience of using one small device to send and receive timely information while on the move, anywhere," said Jason Katz, President and CEO of Paltalk. "Since memory space is of a premium to Palm users, we've made this program the smallest of its kind, " he said.

"Industry estimates are that there are approximately six million Palm Pilots purchased to date and there is every indication that the number will continue to grow by leaps and bounds, making instant messaging a routine phenomenon among users of the smart handhelds," said Katz. "The Palm market has exploded and there is every reason to believe that a significant percentage of professionals will come to own Palm Pilots. What Paltalk provides is a mechanism to increase the professional's efficiency by providing this type of program, as speedy access to information provides the edge people want," continued Katz.

Like all Paltalk features, the instant message feature of Paltalk is user friendly. A user downloads the software to his PC and syncs it to his Palm Pilot. The user signs on and gains instant access to the same information he has on his computer. The only requirements to use this feature are a modem, either fixed wire or wireless, and an access number.

Paltalk's instant messaging function for Palm Pilots has many of the same features as Paltalk's PC version, including the same username and password, ensuring that the user is still identifiable by the same on-line name and also has access to their unique list of online Pals, just as they would see if they logged on from their PC.

Paltalkers set up their own on-line "PalList" of friends and acquaintances, showing them instantly who of their list is on or off-line at that moment.

Other Paltalk features using the Palm enable users to leave offline text messages, which are automatically delivered the next time recipients log in. Users can create private chat rooms to which they can invite friends, or participate in more than 50 interest-specific groups already chatting by voice or text, or both. New groups are added regularly, many at the suggestion of users.

Minimum requirements: Paltalk's PC software can be used with any Internet Service Provider. Windows 95/98/NT, soundcard, speaker, and microphone for talk features. Paltalk's Palm software requires a Palm III or V series with a modem, fixed or wireless.
