ThinAirApps Announces Next Generation of Wireless Software Platform

New Version Broadens Wireless Device Support and Deepens Features

ThinAirApps, LLC today announced the availability of ThinAir Server(TM) 1.1, a wireless platform that enables two-way real time information access from wireless devices. ThinAir Server 1.1 provides support for a wider selection of wireless devices and is now compatible with any Palm VII(TM) handheld, any Palm III(TM) or Palm V(TM) with TCP/IP connectivity or OmniSky(TM) service, any Research in Motion interactive pager with a WAP browser, such as GoAmerica's GoWeb browser, and any Internet-enabled mobile phone, such as those with WAP browsers from Phone.com and Nokia.

The platform is designed to enable mobile device users to access a range of out-of-the-box applications from leading groupware and messaging platforms such as Microsoft Exchange Server(R), Lotus(R) Domino Server, or any IMAP or POP mail system. The functionality for the ThinAirApps applications has been expanded to allow mobile professionals to not only access their e-mail inbox and calendar, but also work with messages in public and private folders, browse their server-side address books, and manage to-do lists. Also new are enhancements to the 100% Java-based platform's architecture which allow for secure, scalable and redundant deployments in complex network and firewall configurations. ThinAir Server 1.1 now supports a software development kit that enables enterprises, service providers, and OEM software developers to wirelessly enable access to a wide range of applications and database.

"This release of ThinAir Server represents a maturation of our platform to be one that organizations of all kinds can base their wireless strategy on," said Mark Flaherty, director of product management, ThinAirApps. "With the expansion of device support and opening up the platform with an SDK, we're really delivering on the `any data, any device' promise that others have only been talking about."

Pricing for ThinAir Server 1.1 is based on a client-access licensing model depending on the type of deployment. Contact ThinAirApps for more information. Users of ThinAir Server 1.0 may upgrade at no charge. A free 30-day evaluation of ThinAir Server 1.1 is currently available on the company's Web site (http://www.thinairapps.com).
