Vitria Partners With Xora to Provide Wireless Access to Enterprise Applications

Combined solution enables mobile workers and partners to access corporate IT systems using cell phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs)

Vitria Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:VITR), a leading ebusiness platform provider, today announced an agreement with Xora, Inc. in which Xora will integrate its wireless and voice interface software, PlainSpeak(TM), into Vitria's ebusiness platform, BusinessWare(R). Vitria's ebusiness platform enables companies to rapidly deploy ebusiness solutions that automate product and service supply chains by automatically linking supply chain partners and their enterprise applications over wireline and wireless networks. The combined solution of Vitria BusinessWare and Xora PlainSpeak will offer immediate wireless and voice access to enterprise applications for all current and future Vitria customers. It will provide, for the first time, instant access to corporate data for mobile workers, customers and partners via cell phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs).

"Wireless and voice-based applications require a powerful development platform that uses sophisticated business rules to deliver highly personalized information to any access device in a robust and secure fashion," said Panchanathan Ganesh, Chief Technical Officer of Xora. "Xora PlainSpeak addresses this crucial requirement and we are very pleased to be working with Vitria to add this functionality to their ebusiness platform, and help us to each deliver sophisticated wireless supply chain automation solutions to our joint customers."

"According to IDC, over 1.1 billion people will be using wireless devices by 2003," said JoMei Chang, CEO and president of Vitria. "This represents a tremendous new channel for connecting employees, customers and partners to operations and decision support information that was previously accessible to the chosen few. We expect wireless devices to become the primary means by which these mobile workers interact with corporate information systems, and are delighted to partner with Xora to bring this new capability to our customers."
