Done.com, the first Wireless Workflow(SM) Application Service Provider (ASP), announced today that it has chosen the Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq:SUNW) platform to deliver its revolutionary hosted service, which enables companies to automatically capture, implement and improve business-to-business work processes like marketing event management.
The service -- which is instantly deployable, easy to use, affordable and universally accessible -- is powered by the highly secure, scalable and reliable Sun(TM) platform.
"In creating a mission-critical ASP service that includes a wireless component, we knew we needed a highly reliable and secure platform that can guarantee unsurpassed uptime," said Uday Walia, Done.com's co-founder, president and chief technology officer. "After evaluating other solutions, we determined that the Sun platform, coupled with Sun's commitment to offering programs designed to accelerate the time-to-market for innovative ASP services, was our choice."
Done.com workflows are based on work process templates that define key tasks required to complete a process. During process implementation, new tasks can be added in response to changing requirements. At the end of the process, actual results can be saved as new work process templates, preserving current process know-how and capturing knowledge from successful projects.
The Done.com service is accessible via the Internet from a Web browser, as well as via wireless Internet technology using WAP-enabled cell phones and the Palm VII device. Future versions will support offline access via synchronization with Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes and handheld devices.
