HTE's CAD 400 Goes Wireless with Jacada for Palm

Jacada Ltd. (NASDAQ: JCDA), a leading provider of e-business infrastructure software, and HTE, Inc. (NASDAQ: HTEI), a leading provider of enterprise-wide software solutions for public-sector organizations and utilities, have announced that HTE recently completed the first phase of its development initiative to enable its software applications to utilize wireless hand-held technology. HTE has developed a wireless hand-held prototype using its CAD400 and Jacada's wireless solution, Jacada(R) for Palm.

CAD400 is a geo-based computer-aided dispatch system that provides equipment and personnel response recommendations; tracks the status of responding police, fire, and EMS units; and enables personnel to access information from local and remote databases. This new initiative will make the CAD400 application accessible to mobile personnel through wireless Palm VII devices.

"Wireless technology just makes sense for certain types of police, fire and EMS workers," said Brian Heafy, HTE's vice president of public safety and justice. "In fact, it makes sense for field personnel in general. This technology integrated with our applications will enable field personnel to access valuable information from their systems using a compact wireless Palm device, and it will open the door to better communication."

In June, HTE showcased the prototype CAD400 Wireless application at its annual user group meeting in Orlando, Florida, which was attended by more than 1600 HTE users. "Excitement at the user group at seeing the prototype running in a live environment was overwhelming," said Heafy. "Our public-safety customers see an immediate need to open up their dispatch and records management capabilities to Palm devices."

HTE serves more than 1,600 customers worldwide in the government, utilities, education, public safety, and justice markets. HTE's Enterprise Suite of more than 50 applications provides the broadest and most integrated set of functionality available in the public-sector market. For HTE, one key to maintaining their leadership position is the continuous modernization of HTE's application suite. "We plan to integrate wireless technology throughout our portfolio of government software applications wherever it adds value for our customers," Heafy commented.

"Jacada is excited about HTE's application of our wireless solutions," said Lee Hicks, vice president of strategic alliances at Jacada. "With Jacada for Palm, HTE was able to develop the CAD400 Wireless prototype application in less than four days. They have been able to add a cutting-edge feature to their application and add significant value for their customers with only minimal modifications to the existing system."

Jacada for Palm is based on the same robust e-business infrastructure software that supports Jacada's current offerings including Jacada(R) Innovator, Jacada(R) for Java, Jacada(R) for HTML and Jacada(R) Connects. Using Jacada for Palm, any mainframe or AS/400 application can be delivered to Palm wireless devices providing mobile users controlled access to valuable business applications and data. Jacada for Palm allows organizations to leverage existing business logic and data without requiring modifications to, or any special knowledge of, existing application code or data structures.
