Mobilocity, Inc. (www.mobilocity.net), the m-business builder for the new era of ubiquitous connectivity, today announced the formal launch of its Mobility Lab.
The Mobility Lab is the first-of-its-kind research and development operation dedicated to pushing the frontiers of mobile Internet applications. It will be comprised of mobile Internet engineers with expertise in WAP, HDML, XML, SMS, Palm, Windows CE/ PocketPC, Symbian EPOC-32, RIM, VoXML, Bluetooth, and other technologies.
The Mobility Lab lies at the center of Mobilocity's commitment to cooperate with clients and strategic partners to develop leading-edge, highly integrated mobile Internet solutions. To this end, Mobilocity is quickly forming alliances with best-of-class providers of mobile Internet hardware, software and services while maintaining a vendor-and platform-neutral approach. Mobilocity's current strategic partners include Aether Software, a division of Aether Systems (NASDAQ:AETH), AgentGo.com, AvantGo, InfoWave (Toronto:IW), LCC International (NASDAQ:LCCI), RTS Wireless, and Screaming Media. Mobilocity is also an active participant in industry organizations such as the Mobile Applications Initiative and the WAP Forum.
"Three key insights inspired the genesis of the Mobility Lab," said Omar Javaid, CEO of Mobilocity. "First, the number of different device types, operating platforms and middleware solutions are proliferating extremely quickly. Second, the packaged solutions on the market today are not much more than point solutions that require integration into more comprehensive, end-to-end offerings. Third, the cost involved in evaluating existing products and developing customized solutions from scratch is prohibitive and necessitates a dedicated entity."
Mobilocity's Mobility Lab is headed by Dr. Goran Arbanas who has conducted groundbreaking research and development over the past decade. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from MIT where he focused on advanced artificial intelligence and the application of computers in nuclear physics. His professional experience includes senior engineering roles at Financial Sciences Corporation, Strategic Business Technologies, Skadden Arps, and Simon & Schuster. "Goran is ideally suited to fulfill the mission of the Mobility Lab. He brings a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience required to make the Mobility Lab a powerful resource to our clients," said Steve Butman, Mobilocity's Chief Technology Officer.
