SAP and Motorola Team to Extend the Reach of Mobile Commerce through Global Technology Cooperation

Alliance to Deliver Motorola's Wireless Application and Notification Solutions to the Mobile Professional through mySAP.com™ Marketplace and Mobile Workplace

Today Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT), a world leading supplier of advanced messaging devices and wireless application technologies, and SAP AG (NYSE ADR:SAP), a leading provider of inter-enterprise software solutions, announced their intent to enter into a global technology cooperation to deliver intelligent notification and enterprise applications to the mobile market worldwide through mySAP.com™ Mobile Workplace and mySAP.com™ Marketplace.

This collaborative agreement will utilize Motorola's innovative wireless solutions in combination with cutting-edge enterprise software solutions from SAP. These wireless solutions from Motorola include the Motorola Messaging Server and Motorola's Mobile Internet Exchange™ communications platform (also known as MIX™ platform), which includes a Voice Markup Language (VoxML™ voice programming language) server. The alliance is expected to further enhance real-time mobile commerce by providing enterprise businesses worldwide with access to relevant and timely information while on the go.

SAP and Motorola will work together to streamline and personalize voice and mobile messaging by providing a single, configurable interface into a wide variety of information sources, including messaging services, the Internet, corporate intranets, legacy systems and more. These applications will serve users by enhancing the management and processing of information, and providing a notification solution that can work with mySAP.com inter- enterprise applications on a variety of messaging formats around the world, including paging, SMS (short messaging service), e- mail, WAP (wireless application protocol), voice mail, and fax. Recently at SAPPHIRE® 2000 Las Vegas, Motorola demonstrated its VoxML voice technology by providing the event agenda, on demand, to any voice-enabled phone, regardless of platform. In addition to the event agenda, SAP and Motorola demonstrated integration of VoxML and WAP with SAP Employee Self-Service software and with SAP Public Sector, providing interactive voice access to civic information.

"By co-operating with Motorola, SAP is providing customers with even more choices, flexibility and speed in accessing and updating critical inter-enterprise data," said Peter Zencke, member of the SAP AG Executive Board. "Now more than ever, the mobile workforce can take advantage of the mySAP.com Mobile Workplace to help improve response time, increase productivity and gain competitive advantage by enhanced customer service."

Global business communities can utilize these joint-messaging technologies to improve the dissemination of critical information to their mobile professionals, as well as to other related businesses. This vision of a true mobile workplace - not limited by geography or organizational structure - can lead to a wide variety of messaging and notification applications. At SAPPHIRE Berlin and SAPPHIRE Las Vegas, Motorola and SAP demonstrated the notification service for a real estate marketplace. This one example of the messaging server and mySAP.com Marketplace in action showcased how this break-through approach can provide up to date notification of market offerings to subscribers. Through previously defined personal profiles, the mySAP.com Marketplace matches the necessary information, then sends this information through the Motorola Messaging Server to subscribers via personal email, a pager, or an SMS account - making this a truly universal solution. For example, a user can be automatically notified of apartments for rent in a particular area that meet a specific set of parameters defined by that individual to fit her or her needs (e.g. price range, size, location or amenities). Potential workplace applications can include the ability to provide time- critical business information to distributed management teams to improve decisions or field service notification.

"Motorola is dedicated to changing the nature of communications for enterprises," said Janiece Webb, senior vice president and general manager for Motorola's Personal Networks Group. "Solutions that we will provide with SAP can help businesses realize new efficiencies in managing their organizations, improve knowledge management, speed decision-making and empower their mobile workforce."
