Aether Extends Healthcare Presence Through Access to Physicians Nationwide; Plans $15 Million Investment in ParkStone

Aether Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:AETH), a leading provider of wireless data products and services, and ParkStone Medical Information Systems, a leader in providing handheld technology solutions to physicians, today announced a strategic alliance whereby Aether will wirelessly enable ParkStone's handheld, point-of-care solutions. Additionally, Aether intends to lead ParkStone's pending round of funding with a $15 million investment.

Under the terms of the agreement, Aether will provide a comprehensive suite of wireless connectivity services and solutions to assist ParkStone in leveraging its handheld software applications and significant relationships with the nation's leading pharmaceutical manufacturers, insurance carriers, pharmacies and pharmacy benefit managers. Additionally, ParkStone has committed to deploying a minimum of 10,000 wireless devices utilizing the Aether Intelligent Messaging (AIM) software platform, and Aether's network operations and customer care center.

"We are extremely excited to work with ParkStone and believe their commitment to deploying handheld solutions to physicians further validates Aether's wireless vision," said Aether Chairman and CEO David S. Oros. "This alliance positions Aether as a leading enabler of wireless solutions in the healthcare industry."

The alliance will enable ParkStone to wirelessly-enable hand-held devices for physicians nationwide to better serve patients at the point-of-care through access to patient specific clinical data and best practice treatment protocols. Physicians will also be able to enjoy increased efficiency by streamlining workflow, automating paper-based processes and reducing time incurred in patient medication management.

"As the leader in wireless data services, Aether is the ideal partner to assist us in achieving our mission," said John J. Johnson, CEO and president of ParkStone. "Together, ParkStone and Aether will begin deployment of technology solutions that will revolutionize the way healthcare information is shared and managed by physicians."
