Delano Adds Wireless Support To Multi-Channel Interaction Strategy

e-Business Platform Will Enable Two-Way Interactions Through Mobiles Phones, Two-Way Pagers, and PDAs

Delano Technology Corporation (NASDAQ:DTEC), a leading provider of interaction-based e-business solutions for the enterprise, today announced it is integrating real-time wireless interactions into its e-business platform, enabling customers to rapidly develop and deploy e-business applications that extend traditional e-mail and Web-based communications to mobile phones, two-way pagers, personal digital assistants (PDA), and other wireless devices. Support for wireless interactions will also be added to Delano's line of `Velocity' e-business applications, providing `out-of-the-box' wireless support for e-marketing, e-service and e-commerce applications.

Through native support for the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), Wireless Markup Language (WML), and other wireless protocols, the company is integrating two-way wireless interactions with Internet-enabled wireless devices into the Delano(TM) e-Business Interaction Suite(TM), its e-business platform. The Delano e-Business Interaction Suite is a software platform that enables companies to rapidly develop and deploy powerful and diverse e-business applications to automate enterprise-wide interactions with customers, partners, suppliers, and employees. A Delano Component Pack for Wireless Interactions, which extends the Delano platform to provide this support, will be available in September.

"E-business applications need to help enterprises interact in real-time with their customers, business partners, and employees no matter where they are," says Allen Bonde, director and general manager of Extraprise Advisors. "As the customer relationship management (CRM) and e-commerce worlds converge, multi-channel interactions, including wireless, will play a crucial role in driving a company's success. By adding wireless support to its e-business platform, Delano continues to help lead this convergence and provide its customers with the technology and applications to support and optimize these channels."

By supporting wireless interactions in applications deployed on the Delano platform, companies will be able to escalate priority customer service issues to service managers via mobile phones, or automatically notify customers of the status of orders placed. Other customized wireless-enabled e-business applications can be deployed for such diverse functions as:

-- e-Marketing - A short survey can be sent automatically to
a customer who has just placed an order through a mobile
phone, along with a discount on another item of personal
interest as an incentive to complete the survey.

        -- e-Sales - While visiting a customer's site, a sales
representative can use their PDA to get the status on a
customer's recent order, or use an order entry form on
their PDA to check inventory levels for another potential
            order.

        -- e-Commerce - A notification regarding a critical stock out
situation on a high demand product can automatically be
sent to a procurement manager's paging device.

-- e-Service - A customer can immediately be notified via
mobile phone of the availability of a previously
out-of-stock item placed on back order, along with an
            estimated delivery date.

"As the wireless subscriber base continues to grow at a rampant rate, our customers and prospects are looking for solutions that enable them to interact with their customers, business partners, and employees anywhere and at any time," says John Foresi, president and CEO of Delano. "By adding wireless support to Delano's multi-channel strategy, we are enabling our customers to manage and enhance their most critical e-business interactions on a single platform. Additionally, the partnerships we are forging with wireless technology, content, and service providers will keep our customers at the forefront of the rapidly expanding world of wireless e-business."
