DigitalOwl Partners With TealPoint Software, Bringing Secure Content to Palm OS and Other Handheld Devices

Agreement provides copyright protection of premium content from computers to personal digital assistants (PDAs)

DigitalOwl, a leader in the secure digital packaging and syndication of premium information content, and TealPoint Software, a leading provider of handheld software solutions, announced joint support for protection and delivery of content for viewing on Palm and other handheld devices.

The agreement ensures that digitally published content, such as research reports and e-books, can be securely viewed on wireless platforms, providing greater availability of content for the growing number of consumers in the worldwide handheld marketplace. DigitalOwl's TitleVision(TM) software will offer the interface for secure viewing of the informational content on Palm devices. Content will be protected and viewed through the TealDoc reader, a product of TealPoint Software.

The joint development solves a major challenge for business professionals who are required to carry multiple devices, such as laptop computers and personal digital assistants (PDAs), in order to effectively access and view premium content. By using DigitalOwl's patent-pending software, content publishers will no longer need to create special versions of information to be viewed on an increasing array of devices. Consumers will be able to access and carry additional information content items that were not previously available on unprotected sources. Now, premium content that can be viewed on the personal computer can be seamlessly transferred to the PDA with all copyright protection intact.

"The hub of premium content management is the PC or enterprise server, and the spokes of the wheel are the various handheld consumer devices," said Kirstie Chadwick, CEO and president of DigitalOwl. "We try to tune the digital content to the maximum capability of the device--whether it is a Palm device or any other--and can expand the device capabilities for total content management. This is an incredible advantage for traveling business professionals."

DigitalOwl's software supports images embedded within the content, which is vitally important to the Florida company's growing client base of analyst groups, research firms and book publishers. Research reports typically include graphs, charts, statistical data and photo images that are an integral part of the overall value of the item.

"This agreement represents a union between advanced content distribution technology and innovative handheld application design," said Vince Lee, president of TealPoint Software. "DigitalOwl's technology seamlessly protects delivered content, and is fully functional. Combined with our expertise in application design, the doors to availability of premium content have opened even wider with this partnership agreement."

DigitalOwl (http://www.digitalowl.com) plans to expand its support of other handheld devices, such as Handspring, Franklin eBookman, and WAP-based cell phones, according to Chadwick.

"Our products were developed for device and viewer neutrality and are fully extendable," Chadwick said. "Plug-ins to extend device capabilities and to offer interfaces to print-on-demand providers are already in the works. We intend to be a major player in the handheld content delivery marketplace."

The TealDoc reader is available for all Palm OS devices and sells for less than $20 from TealPoint's company Web site, http://www.tealpoint.com.
