e-MedSoft.com (AMEX:MED-news) today announced that Jacksonville Heart Center ("JHC") has selected the company's wireless technology, e-MedPocket(TM), to automate its hospital rounds.
The agreement builds on JHC's five-year contract for e-MedSoft's Practice Management Services by extending the company's connectivity solutions to the point-of-care.
e-MedPocket(TM) will assist JHC cardiologists in three primary areas: physician scheduling, hospital rounds scheduling and patient encounters. Physicians will now be able to better coordinate their complex schedules through the ability to remotely view and update their own and their colleagues' office and hospital round schedules.
Further, e-MedPocket(TM) streamlines the physician/patient hospital encounter by allowing physicians to digitally store encounter information at the point-of-care. The physician can enter information such as visit date/time, diagnosis, procedure code and other vital information.
In addition, the handheld device is preloaded with diagnosis and procedure codes selected by the physicians, which can be customized to fit various specialty practices. To help the provider more accurately document his/her visit, e-MedPocket(TM) displays a variety of information such as patient diagnosis and procedure history, diagnosis code search and other critical information.
Another need addressed by e-MedPocket(TM) is the improvement of the practice's overall financial operations. As data is entered directly into the handheld device, encounter information is quickly communicated to the practice's billing staff, allowing claims to be filed and adjudicated more rapidly.
Furthermore, costly medical errors are reduced through the direct, electronic entry of data, eliminating the manual interpretation and coding of physician claims for professional services.
