Emrys Solutions New Enterprise Software Extends Corporate Applications to Mobile Devices - Anytime, Anywhere, and to Any Device

Emrys Solutions, Inc. today announced Emrys Visions 1.1(TM), enterprise software that manages different devices across multiple platforms and protocols and allows the real-time sharing of applications and information between the enterprise and mobile devices.

Emrys Visions 1.1 is unique in its ability to distribute existing application functionality to a variety of devices, connected in a variety of ways. It overcomes many common problems associated with mobile computing, such as bandwidth constraints, device display size and color limitations, device user interface form factor, stateless connections, and browser / micro-browser limitations.

Device support includes computing devices connected to a corporate LAN, Intranet or Internet, such as Palm OS(TM) and Windows CE(TM) based Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and mobile telephones using Wireless Application Protocol (WAP).

Emrys Visions 1.1 further opens the enterprise by including support for ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) and Component Object Model (COM). Support for ADO allows access to industry leading database management systems, including Oracle. COM allows for more efficient application development, programming language independence, and re-usability of code. Additional form-factors (Palm, HP Jornada, Pocket PC) are available.

To gain the benefits offered by Visions 1.1, applications don't need to be re-developed, but simply re-deployed by integrating the Emrys Visions Application Manager and deploying the client-side View Manager.

"Emrys Visions 1.1 has been designed to be the platform for delivering enterprise-class mission-critical applications to mobile professionals and to extend application functionality to The Point of Need (anywhere, anytime, any device)," said Bruce Switzer, Emrys' CEO. "Our patent-pending technology offers unmatched performance and depth of functionality. With its support for Windows, Internet and wireless clients, Visions is ideal for sites with mixed connectivity and client-side requirements."

Major features include rapid time to benefit; performance, functionality, scalability, and security. Visions 1.1 also works with corporate firewalls through its HTTP Tunneling feature. In addition, Visions 1.1 includes evPanel, which improves manageability by offering a number of advanced administration tools.

Emrys' target market includes companies that have software applications which can benefit by being extended to a variety of devices (desktop computers, notebook computers, handheld devices (Palm OS & Windows CE) over TCP/IP based networks, including wireless CDPD networks.

Emrys Visions 1.1 is completely backward compatible with Emrys Visions 1.00, which was announced last year.

Visions 1.1 is presently in final beta. The production release will be available from Emrys and its Value Added Resellers (VARs) beginning September 1, 2000. Emrys' flexible pricing model allows for deployment to as few as five users ($795 US), as well as broader workgroup deployment or deployment across the enterprise supporting hundreds or thousands of users.
