ePhysician Surpasses 100,000 Electronic Prescriptions Milestone

Only Wireless Prescription Service With 100% Electronic Transmission From Handheld to Pharmacy

ePhysician(TM), the first e-health company to combine secure wireless handheld technology and the Internet to improve the experience of practicing medicine and the quality of patient care, announced today that it has successfully sent more than 100,000 electronic prescriptions from a Palm handheld to pharmacies in 48 states through its ePad(TM) service.

ePhysician's ePad is the first commercially available service that enables doctors to send prescriptions to pharmacies using a secure wireless connection to the Internet. It is the only device of its kind operating on a Wide Area Network (WAN), meaning that physicians can utilize all of ePhysician's capabilities anytime, anywhere--from a restaurant to an exam room. While similar devices enable physicians to print out prescriptions in their offices, none provide 100% electronic transmission of scripts from any location to pharmacies in 48 states.

"Reaching this 100,000 prescription milestone proves that the ePhysician has produced reliable, easy-to-use and scalable technology," said Stuart Weisman, M.D., CEO and founder of ePhysician. "Healthcare professionals nationwide are embracing ePhysician's technology because it reduces medical errors and creates tremendous efficiencies for the practicing physician."

The transmission of more than 100,000 prescriptions is the latest in a number of significant milestones for ePhysician. The company recently partnered with large managed care facility Kaiser Permanente. Under the agreement, physicians from the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) will be using ePhysician's wireless technology to treat up to 40,000 patients in the Mid-Atlantic region.
