iXL Enterprises (Nasdaq: IIXL) and mobile applications provider ViaFone announced today a strategic agreement aimed at delivering best of breed mobile applications for iXL's global clients. The alliance will allow iXL and ViaFone to quickly build and deploy intuitive, user-friendly multi-device wireless applications for iXL's growing global client base, enabling instant access to critical information and services through any wireless device or standard telephone.
"iXL's wireless approach is focused on influencing the consumer experience and positively impacting our clients' relationship with customers, suppliers, partners and employees," said Dave Shuker, General Manager of iXL's Mobile and Wireless Solutions Group. "With the demand for customizable m-commerce platforms expected to grow rapidly over the coming months, we have looked to form a partnership with a wireless solutions provider who could help accelerate our delivery capabilities. This agreement will allow us to provide a low-risk, scalable solution for customers wishing to deploy wireless applications that are tightly integrated into their current systems."
ViaFone's solutions are based on its Mobile Application ServerÔ, an XML and Java-based platform that is deeply embedded at the data and application server layers of a customer's existing e-business infrastructure. Using a single point of integration to the customer's back-end, the Mobile Application Server enables the development, deployment and management of customized front-end user interfaces through any wireless device or standard telephone. Identification of the specific wireless device being used, coupled with dynamic rendering, provides a user experience that is optimized for the specific capabilities and constraints of each interface.
"ViaFone's partnership with iXL is a great validation of our leading value proposition. This partnership aligns us with one of the professional services industry's most respected companies and will dramatically accelerate our time to market and expand our market reach," said Bernard Desarnauts, CEO and Co-founder, ViaFone. "ViaFone will now deliver our best-of-class services and technology to iXL's growing retail, telecommunications and financial services clients, allowing us to create and host a wide variety of compelling, cost-effective mobile applications in sectors leading the wireless revolution."
iXL's Mobile and Wireless team has delivered over 75 strategy-driven wireless projects including launching wireless Internet operations, portals and applications to over 40 clients around the globe including British Telecom, Qualcomm, Ericsson, Pegaso/Sprint PCS, and AirTouch. iXL helps companies deliver transactions and content through wireless devices, and integrate these capabilities with their existing content management systems, e-commerce initiatives and customer relationships.
